The World Travel and Tourism Council has announced a new set of global priorities approved by its Executive Council, aiming to unlock growth and drive transformation across the industry. The eight strategic focus areas were shaped by insights from over 200 CEO interviews and cover critical topics such as digital travel experiences, sustainability, artificial intelligence, connectivity, and workforce development.
The priorities reflect a shift toward more seamless digital journeys, where travelers can expect smoother booking processes and personalized services. Sustainability remains a central pillar, with an emphasis on reducing carbon footprints and promoting responsible tourism. AI is expected to play a growing role in operations, from customer service to predictive analytics for demand management. Connectivity improvements, both in terms of transport links and digital infrastructure, are also highlighted as essential for future growth.
Workforce challenges, including talent shortages and skills gaps, are addressed through a focus on training and retention. The WTTC said these priorities were designed to help the sector adapt to rapid changes while maintaining its role as a major economic driver. The council's members include leaders from airlines, hotels, cruise lines, and travel technology companies.
The announcement comes as global travel continues to recover and evolve, with demand shifting toward more flexible and sustainable options. The WTTC expects these priorities to guide policy discussions and business strategies in the coming years, helping the industry move forward in a more coordinated way.
