TEHRAN-- Shina Ansari, Vice President and Head of Iran’s Department of Environment (DoE), has highlighted the urgent necessity to transform the current tourism development model in Iran. During a recent meeting, Ansari called for enhanced strategic collaboration between the DoE and the Cultural Heritage Ministry to promote green tourism initiatives across the country.
Ansari stressed that adopting sustainable practices in tourism could not only protect the environment but also preserve Iran's rich cultural heritage. By focusing on eco-friendly tourism, the government aims to attract visitors who are increasingly conscious of their environmental impact. This approach seeks to balance economic growth with ecological preservation, ensuring that tourism development does not come at the cost of natural resources.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to foster sustainable development in various sectors, with tourism being a significant contributor to Iran's economy. The collaboration between the two ministries is expected to yield innovative solutions that align with global sustainability goals, making Iran a leading destination for environmentally responsible travelers.
